Bloodsport

The writing and coordination of this episode was just something only CSI can do on TV now a days. Throughout the entire show the twists and turns made it worth the watch for mystery and character interaction. Plus the conclusion totally threw the viewer off in a weird turn of events.

The Case: When the beloved coach of WLVU mustangs is beaten to a bloody pulp in his bed the whole football team is put under the spotlight. After the first couple of minutes the major MVP Calvin Crook is the main suspect. In a bit of irony the coach was bludgeoned to death by the coach of the year award. The suspects came and went. At most points I was leaning towards the treacly car salesmen team father figure Pal Arnold (because anyone with that name cant be trusted). The end had Calvin who was ticked off for the lack of playing time on a season he could have walked away from to join the draft for 5 million. What got him was the fact that he ditched the bloody shoe and the murder weapon in the neighborhood trash can.

The Characters: I loved this episode for the character fluff offset with the quirky humor and puzzling mysteries that CSI has come to be famous for. Robbins explanation of the zombie-esque beginning sequence was right on because of the complete geekiness that the coroner exhibits. Brass has a lovable tough exterior bad-ass persona in this episode a lot with the suspects mostly young football jocks. Nick pretty much solved the case by discovering the murder weapon and getting a confession out of the Calvin Crook player. Hodges was in this episode a lot but where was Archie thats what I want to know. Not that I didnt like the fact that Hodges can pretty much do AV lab work, trace lab work and still get to have lunch with Wendy......amazing. Plus the humor offsets the complete suckiness of the human race that CSI deals with on a daily basis.

Favorite Parts of the Episode
Zombie-esque beginning: Which was weird and I didnt get it until the one and only Doc explained it
Hodges: His delivery and geekiness gets me every time
Wedges: Breif and sweet plus they werent fighting for once
Pal Arnold: Perfectly casted...totally believable and creepy to boot.Twists: Slightly confusing but an overall one hour super puzzle
